Director/Owner
Jordan Neufeld, MSEd., CSCS
While on a baseball scholarship at Canisius College (Buffalo, NY NCAA Div. I), Jordan received multiple MAAC All-Academic team awards. He played for the Barrie Baycats (Barrie, Ontario) of the IBL (Intercounty Baseball League) throughout the college summer seasons, winning a championship in 2005. Following invitational workouts with the Philadelphia Phillies (Clearwater, Florida), he played several minor league (independent) professional seasons for the Macon “Music” (Macon, Georgia) in the South Coast League (2007) and the Calgary “Vipers” (Calgary, Alberta) in the Golden League (2008), before retiring due to shoulder injuries.
His passion for baseball and player development has led him to a variety of coaching and teaching opportunities throughout his career. He is a NYS certified teacher with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in health and physical education in addition to coaching experience as a high school baseball coach in Florida, Ontario, Canada and the WNY area. Additionally, Jordan has a number of specialized credentials as a certified Lifeguard Instructor and Professional Rescuer Instructor with the American Red Cross, and is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

As an active board member with Grand Island Little League, he has worked to develop programs to benefit the local community, acting as a division commissioner while overseeing and developing the league’s “Junior Vikings Academy” as well as the indoor “Spring Training” and the fall “Sandlot” baseball programs.

Jordan is a Physical Education teacher in the Hamburg Central School District and resides on Grand Island, NY with his family.

Coach
Brian Willats
Brian is a Physical Education teacher, high school baseball and football coach for 21 years in Grand Island Central schools. He has also coached at multiple levels in travel baseball including Grand Island LL, Titans Baseball, Lou Gehrig and Jr Thunderwolves. In 2017 he coached the Titans to a USA Gameday National Championship and followed that in 2018 with a Finalists trophy at Cooperstown Dreams Park. Brian is a graduate of Sweet Home HS and Canisius College. He has current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications. He resides in Grand Island with his wife Jennifer and 3 children Brayden, Teagan and Bryce.

Coach
Mark Fregelette
Mark is a 2006 graduate of Hamburg High School, where he was a 3-sport athlete, playing baseball, football, and basketball. Following graduation, he attended Baldwin-Wallace College (Cleveland, OH) and was a member of their football team. Upon earning his Physical Education degree, he attended Canisius College to earn a Master’s in Health and Physical Education. Mark is currently a Physical Education teacher in the Hamburg Central School district and has been the JV baseball head coach since 2012. Mark was also the JV football head coach from 2012-2020, before moving up to varsity as the offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach, and defensive backs coach. In addition to his coaching and teaching experience, Mark is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and has attended the annual ABCA Convention yearly since 2018. He is certified in CPR/AED, First Aid and Lifeguarding with the American Red Cross.

Greg Nicolia
Greg played 3 years as a varsity baseball player under coach Dean Santorio at Grand Island High School. After graduating, he played 4 years at Gannon University where he was named as a team captain during his junior and senior years. He continued on in his baseball career as a volunteer assistant coach at both Williamsville North High School and Grand Island High School. He would later step into the role as the head JV baseball coach at Williamsville East high school. Greg currently teaches Physical Education at Kaegebein Elementary and continues to coach baseball within the Grand Island Central School District.

Vinny Cuviello
A former standout right-hander at Kenmore East, Vinny Cuviello was a member of Coach Clingersmith’s first two teams at NCCC. He then transferred to SUNY Cortland where he helped the Red Dragons to a runner-up finish at the 2010 NCAA Div. III World Series.
As an assistant coach at SUNY Niagara from 2012-2020, Cuviello helped develop one of the best junior-college pitching staffs in the country, leading to four Region III Championships and appearances in the NJCAA Div. III World Series. In both 2012 and 2017, the NCCC Thunderwolves finished second in the country. He has also helped move several dozen hurlers on to four-year colleges and universities. Since 2022, Cuviello joined the Prospects organization as Pitching Coordinator for all age groups 10u-18u. His instruction focuses on many areas including pitch development, mechanics, pick-offs/holding runners on, mound presence/body language, arm-care/recovery throwing, band routine, strength training using weighted balls (age appropriate), core-velocity belt use, etc. His philosophy is to teach young players to become pitchers and not throwers. Vinny currently teaches physical education at Starpoint CSD and is the assistant varsity baseball coach.

Brett Helmbrecht
Coach Helmbrecht is a 4-year letterman of St Mary’s High School in Lancaster. After receiving All WNY/Catholic/State Honors, Brett then went on to play two years at JUCO powerhouse SUNY Niagara where he was a captain and led the team to a JUCO World Series appearance. As team captain at Coppin State University - NCAA Div. I (Baltimore, MD), he led the program to a MEAC North Division title and was named to the 'Johnny Bench' Watch List, which nominates the top catchers at the NCAA Division I level. Brett also played in some of the top summer collegiate leagues including the Northwoods League and Coastal Plains League. A left-handed batter, Brett had the ability to spray the ball to all fields, move runners and make contact consistently at the highest collegiate level. Brett received a Master’s Degree in Physical Education from Canisius University and currently teaches physical education in Buffalo, NY. In addition, Brett works as an associate head coach for the WNY Prospects.
